Efficient Irrigation of Vegetables on Sands
This information is presented as the first part of a collaborative project between vegetablesWA and the Department of Agriculture and Food, Western Australia with funding from the Premier’s Water Foundation.
Irrigation is necessary for the production of high yields of quality vegetables. We are aware that water resources are increasingly under pressure from multiple users, as evident on the Gnangara mound to the north of Perth on the Swan Coastal Plain. Vegetable growers acknowledge that they have a responsibility to use water efficiently and to minimise any impact on groundwater.
The aim in providing the following information is to help growers make positive changes to irrigation and nutrient management.
This project complements Water Wise on the Farm and HAL/AUSVEG funded vegetable irrigation initiatives.
